LUNA'S DESTINY by Munira Murtaza

“A visit to the hospital is so boring !“ exclaimed Luna when her teacher told the class that they were going to visit patients as an educational trip. Luna is a bright kid you might ask. Wrong, she is not a bright student at all! For her, a few hours in school seem interminable, she simply could not imagine spending time at the hospital; little did she know that the next few hours would change her life forever.
Two days after the announcement, they left for their trip. On the way Luna saw many happy and gloomy faces. They entered the hospital and Luna read aloud “Hospital for children-New York” and remarked “Let’s do this.” The class went inside a room that stated “Heart – ICU surgery.” Just hearing these powerful words made Luna uncomfortable and she cringed. Inside they saw a patient lying on the bed. The little girl explained “Hi my name is Jane, and I am seven years old.” Luna listened carefully to every word Jane said.
Jane continued “You know what the worst part of dying is, it’s when you know you’re going to die and you can’t do anything about it, no matter how much you try, you just can’t change it. That’s what’s happening with me. Like you, I was in school, and I hated studying. Today, all I want to do is have a normal life and go to school”. Luna could relate to Jane’s feelings. After listening to Jane,  Lana was determined to study hard and get good grades. Sure, it was hard but Luna overcame every obstacle and always passed with flying colors. She went to medical school and became a doctor at a very young age. She started a research to create a special kind of medicine that could cure different kinds of cancers when she was just twenty two. She succeeded and got a Nobel Prize for all her discoveries. If someone had told her that she would get a Nobel Prize when she was young, she would never have believed that was possible. She worked hard and empathized with every patient she came across, making her the greatest doctor ever.
When you understand other’s feelings, you will understand that not everyone is different. Everyone has feelings. Everyone has a heart of gold; they just need someone to mentor them, motivate them and make them into someone different
