THE COURAGEOUS SOLDIER by Moiz Qaid

Once upon a time, there was a family living in Houston, which is in Texas, USA. They were living a middle class life, with a standard 2 bhk flat in the downtown of Houston. In the year of 1941, sudden news came that US has declared war on Vietnam which is an Asian country beside Thailand. The US government made a shocking announcement that they needed more soldiers in army to win the war. One of the members of Wilson’s family had to go in army because he was perfect to fight, he went to military officials and he entered his name in the list of army.

The soldier (whose name was Jack Wilson) fought the war against his country’s opponent who was ‘Vietnam’ and they had captured it, but unfortunately the soldier lost his leg and arm because of a land mine. He was finally coming home after war as he called his parents and said: “Mom and Dad, I’m coming home, but I have a favour to ask, I have a friend whom I like to bring home with me.” His parents replied: “sure we would love to meet him.” After that the soldier said the injury news: “there is something you both should know that I’ve lost my leg and arm because of landmine in the war.” they were also feeling that pain and Jack said: “My friend has nowhere else to go, so he stay with us?” so his dad said: “I’m sorry to hear that son but maybe we can help him find somewhere to live.” Jack became sad and he was persuading his parents to get permission of calling his friend to his home, but his parents were not listening to him and said that he (friend) will be burden on them and they think that Jack’s friend will find a way. That time, Jack hanged the phone.

Few days later, the parents received a call from San Francisco police. They said that Jack has made a suicide from a 10-storey building. At that time only Jack’s parents booked a flight to San Francisco and they flew over, when they saw the morgue of their son so they identified that he had lost an arm and a leg.

The moral of the story is that the parents in this story are like man of us. We find it easy to love those who are good-looking or fun to have around, but we don’t like people who inconvenience us or make us feel uncomfortable. We would rather stay away from people who aren’t healthy, beautiful or smart as we are. Thankfully, there is someone who won’t treat us that way. Someone who loves us with an unconditional love that welcomes us into the forever family, regardless of how messed up we are.
