I was running towards my beautiful dadima when I fell and started bawling; my dadima came sprinting towards me and held my small hands and consoled me lovingly. That’s how I remember my lovely dadima! When I was hungry, she made me my favourite biryani. She always kept Lifesavers (my favourite sweet) in her bag and I still remember how her face lit up when I kissed her hand in gratitude.
When I was sad she comforted me, when I would be happy she would be the happiest woman in the world.
Suddenly, Allah gave a difficult test: my genius dadima started forgetting things, her behaviour started changing. The twinkle in her eyes when she used to see me started fading, her warm smile had disappeared, when I went to hug her she didn’t hug me back. I was confused, worried ,and depressed. My mom told me that unfortunately, my blessed dadi had developed dementia (a medical condition that causes people to forget things).
I know that my dadi still loves me a lot, but she is in so much pain. The worst part is that she cannot express her love for me.
Now it is my duty I be with her at this tough time. I will hold her hand so she doesn’t get lost. I will try my best to keep her cheerful at all times and also bring the twinkle back in her eyes. Advanced technology today is trying to ensure that there is a cure for every disease. I will also try my best to find a solution for the best dadi in the world! The most important thing I can do right now is to pray to Allah to bring back my beloved, sweet dadi to me .
Moral: your elders love you and were with you when you needed them the most, so be with your elders when they need you the most!!!
The End
What a touching, heart-rending story! I am sure your dadima know how lucky she is to have a warm and wonderful grandson like you.
